A man is lucky to be alive after his SUV struck a train downtown
Friday morning.
The vehicle ran into the side of a GO train just before 7am at
Strachan Avenue and Wellington. The car collided with the Union
Station-bound train, causing service delays along the busy rail
route.
The driver was shaken, but didn’t sustain any injuries. A GO
official has said the safety barrier was down and lights were
flashing when the collision happened.
The accident has caused serious backups along the downtown rail
corridor. GO has had to hold several trains and make some
cancellations on several lines, including Barrie-Bradford,
Lakeshore East, Milton, and Georgetown.
